Community Solstice Spiral

Come find your quiet strength and guiding light that will see you through the darkest, coldest days of the year. This tradition, practiced in Waldorf schools the world over but plucked from much older roots, provides a meditative space for us to focus our energy for the challenges to come. A spiral is laid out for you to walk and candles are provided to light your way.

The students will walk the spiral the following day with their class.

Thursday, December 20
1:30 - 2:15 pm
Festival of Lights

Families are invited to attend this all school assembly. Come enjoy a puppet play and community sing-along to start your winter vacation off right!

From 2:20 – 2:40 pm we will have an open dismissal for parents/guardians to bid faculty and staff a happy holiday and clean out cubbies before the break. Children can bypass the car line and leave with parents/guardians.

Important Note: There will be no Aftercare, all children must be collected during normal dismissal (2:25 – 2:40 pm).

Friday, December 21 - Friday, January 4
NO SCHOOL

There is no school on Friday, December 21. We will see you on Monday, January 7!

Curious Questions   (1)
What is an AWSNA mentor visit?

If you were around the school today, you may have seen Luke Goodwin from CWS.  He is visiting UPWS for 2 days as part of our AWSNA Path to Membership process.  We are an AWSNA Initiative School on the path to full member.  CWS is our mentor school in this process, and Luke occasionally visits in order to make sure we are moving appropriately towards this goal, which includes documenting administrative and pedagogical procedures and an extensive self study of our school.
