Holiday Break - No School

Before leaving for the holiday break, each student will be required to clean out their cubby, including shoes, on Friday afternoon, December 19.  You may send a bag for your child to fill or we will provide a plastic garbage bag.  This clean out allows everyone to bring back all winter gear squeaky clean when we return.

As a reminder: 1st and 2nd grade should return from break with a change of clothes and proper indoor shoes to be kept in their cubby.

Specialty Teacher Gifts for the Holiday Season

This holiday season, Parent Council hopes you will also remember the Urban Prairie specialty teachers whose talents in Foreign Language, Music, Practical Arts, Eurythmy, and Movement are critical to our curriculum, as well as the administrative staff that keep our children safe at recess, apply Arnica cream when children are hurt, and perform countless tasks everyday that keep the school running smoothly.

Here is how you can help acknowledge these wonderful people.  Parent Council is collecting money to purchase gift cards for all specialty teachers and administrative staff.  Contributions are accepted at any level, but we hope you will consider donating $15-$20, with a variety of payment options:

  • Credit Card donations are accepted online at http://urbanprairie.org/gift-contributions/.
  • You may also donate at the school with a Check (payable to Urban Prairie) or
  • Cash in an envelope marked “Specialty Teachers Gift”, or
  • pay via Credit Card during cubby clean up after school on Friday, December 19th.  Look for me or Ms. Lofgren.

We hope you and your children will also consider writing a personal note of thanks to one or all of these special people!  Listed below are the names and responsibilities of the individuals who fall under the category of specialty teacher or administrative staff.  There will be a drop off box for these notes at the school entrance starting Monday, December 15th.
