Curious Questions   (1)
How do I learn more about the philosophy of Waldorf education?
Many of you probably came to Waldorf education because of the way the space made you feel, the welcoming members of the community, or the bright young students you encountered. Digging into the philosophy that drives what we do at Waldorf schools can feel a bit intimidating. Here are a few resources that are accessible and enjoyable:
  • The Waldorfy Podcast (available anywhere you can find podcasts)
  • Waldorf Education Blogs – The Essentials in Education blog is a good place to start
  • Simplicity Parenting from Kim John Payne – Kim is a frequent collaborator of Urban Prairie’s who has written books, produces a podcast, and has countless other resources on his website.

If you’re up for a longer read try starting with:

Waldorf Education: A Family Guide, Edited by Pamela Johnson Fenner and Karen Rivers
The Kingdom of Childhood, by Rudolf Steiner (also available for free to download or listen to, just look up the title)

Community Connection   (1)
Thank you for your schoolyard survey responses

We collected 29 responses and will have information to share soon. The teachers also collected student survey information and it’s been a tremendous opportunity for us to come together as a community to share a common vision for our outdoor space.

In Gratitude   (1)
Great big pat on the back to all!

The UPWS10 Birthday Party was a HUGE success. Thanks to the little hands that created endless paper chain decorations to the expert hands that created amazing appetizers, cupcakes, and beverages (all generously donated). Thanks to the interior design crew for making the venue the perfect atmosphere for community building, fun, and celebration. Thank you to the musicians that performed and will be performing for auction items. Thank you to the artists for generously sharing their talent. Thank you for bidding, buying, raffling, playing, eating, donating and contributing in countless ways to Urban Prairie Waldorf School.

And special gratitude goes out to Cody Stephens and Aimee Krall-Lanoue, our event co-chairs. Cheers!
