Parent Community Organization Meeting

Please join the Parent Community Organization for our last meeting of the year! We meet in the Community Room and you can see the agenda here. We will review the amazing feedback shared by parents at our last meeting which will shape our way next year! You can find the posted notes here from that meeting and past meetings this year! All are welcome to share ideas on ways our Parent Community can be the space of warmth and support our new families, teachers, staff, and parent community!

Pentathlon

Each year, we send our 5th grade students to compete against other Waldorf school students in the regional Pentathlon.  All students compete in five events – running, long jump, discus, javelin, and wrestling–striving to achieve both truth (the empirical win) and beauty (good form).

Good luck 5th graders!!

Jumpathon!

Our students will jump, jump, jump to support Urban Prairie!  Haven’t sent your mailers to family and friends?  It’s okay.  We’ll send home a pledge collection sheet tomorrow in case you’d like to gather donations that way too.

Parent Community News   (1)
Thank you for all the Teacher Appreciation donations

The Parent Community Steering Committee would like to thank our parent body, class delegates, Heather Berhalter, and Gyasi Kress for sharing their hearts, hands and resources to make our Teacher Appreciation week a wonderful success! Parents brought in food for our Tuesday Food Fiesta and gave money for the Teacher Wellness Room. A total of $140 was raised and shared with Gyasi for the massages he provided! In fact he continues chair and table massage this week since he is determined that ALL teachers and staff participate! We are so grateful for our community and all you each do! More hands make light work. Thank YOU!

Curious Question   (1)
What's that cheeping in the third grade room?

Third grade is hatching chicks!  They have been patiently turning and tending eggs for the past two weeks.  They have six chicks so far and are watching the remaining eggs.  Looking for new chicks in your urban chicken house?  We’d love to find a home for our hatchlings.

In Gratitude   (1)
Thank you to our flower crown makers and community (and the rain gods) for a wonderful Mayfaire!

Thank you to Laura Williams, Danila Miranda, Shannon Callahan, Alejandra Garcia, Aimee Krall-Lanoue, Sarah VanDeusen, Lisa Gonzalez, Nancy Hodges, Cassie Creswell, and for spending Friday morning making flower crowns for everyone!

With rain on either side of the event like bookends we had a wonderful time singing, crafting, eating, and chatting. Thank you to everyone who had a hand in making the event a success!
