Parent Council Recap

The Parent Council quarterly meeting was well attended Monday, October 20th. The minutes are located here.

Some great ideas included listing volunteer opportunities clearly in the weekly administrative update. We are looking for a few parents to join a working group to begin to establish protocols for how parents will lead within Parent Council. Please contact parent.council@urbanprairie.org if you are interested in learning more about the working group or participating.

Planning Yuletide Festival

Yuletide Festival workshops and changes:

The faculty of CG and UPWS have decided that the name “Yuletide Festival” better encompasses the feeling of the event, a true celebration where we can connect as a community, where we can sing together and watch the wonder on our children’s faces as the tree is lit–in short, a magical, commercial-free, 3-hour party full of the spirit of warmth and light and joy. You won’t want to miss the Yuletide Festival, Saturday Dec 6 from 4-7pm.

Yuletide Festival Workshops continue in November! These workshops go a long way in creating a successful Yuletide Festival (Dec 6, 4-7pm). Yuletide Festival is our community’s winter celebration, and is the most magical festival of the year, filled with song, light, and great food. Come to the workshops to sip some wine with friends and learn or perfect a crafting or baking skill! All workshops are at City Garden, 920 W. 19th Street.

Tues, Nov 4, 7:30pm – Origami flower folding (for the Fairy House)

Thur, Nov 6, 7:30pm – Sugar cookie decorating

Boot Camp

Boot Camp will be on Wednesdays and Fridays this month and starts 10/8, 1:45-2:45, at the basketball court across from City Garden (19th and Peoria). Having friends around makes the hour go so quickly! Contact trainer Rachel with questions (773-251-7874).

With Gratitude

A Big Thank You to all the families that helped the school open it’s doors to the neighborhood trick or treaters. Many new neighbors stopped by, some coffee was sold, and the UPWS students who came had so much fun trick or treating with their classmates. Thank you especially to the second grade parents!
