Dear Parents,

Happy Thanksgiving! What I’m thankful for this year is undoubtedly the first graders. They are so wonderful and impressive. Every day they remind me of the interesting things that make life worth living. Thank you for sharing them with me, and for all you do.

IMPORTANT! This is a reminder that you should be receiving emails from 3 different Urban Prairie lists: the administrative weekly update, the UPWS bulletin board, and this group, the Ms. Avellone’s class group. If you are not, you may be missing important information, as I do not include all the school announcements or events in my weekly update. Please email Peggy should you need to be added or an email address updated.

UPCOMING EVENTS

  • Yuletide Festival, Sat, Dec 5 from 4:00-7:00 at City Garden. Marionette plays! Candle-dipping! Live music! Singing! Lots of great food and drink! The winter fairy! This is the highlight of the season, and you won’t want to miss it. Help make it a great festival by signing up to bring something or for a volunteer shift. I cannot speak enough on what a wonderful festival this is. City Garden is transformed into a winter wonderland, with activities and entertainment for all ages.

WEEK 11 HIGHLIGHTS

This week we found R in Rumpelstiltskin (that ragged, running rascal) and Q in the Queen. Our letter line is quite full. Upon our return in December, we will only have 5 more letters (O, U, X, Y, Z). I look forward to savoring those last 3 weeks of this long block. They were very excited to be singing in Spanish for the Thanksgiving Assembly. They wanted Senor Flannery to spend all of Spanish class rehearsing! They did very well at their first assembly, and I look forward to those to come. In other important news,  some students have started to cast-off their knitted square in handwork, meaning the first project is nearing completion!

I look forward to seeing you Monday or Tuesday for Parent-Teacher Conferences.

Warmly,

Hannah
