Urban Prairie Waldorf School
Miss Peterson's Class
Weekly Update - May 23, 2016
With the buzz of spring in the air it became evident today that holding the children in school when it is sunny outside will be quite a challenge for the next 4 weeks.  These are the times that I am so thankful for the Waldorf curriculum!  It is through the stories that they are really connected to the material.  Despite the nice weather, they were very engaged in the tale of Saint Francis and the Wolf of Gubbio.  They are enjoying the writing block and have also worked as a class to compose a book for the folks at Glastonbury.  It is entitled The Blast in Glastonbury.  They each had unique contributions about the many events that took place at the herb sanctuary.  The book will be mailed to Althea as a thank you gift for the incredible trip.

In math we are using people’s Jumpathon goals to practice place value and adding numbers to the thousands place.  Please see Gina’s email to our class regarding Jumpathon.  I hope to see you all on Thursday!

Second Grade Assessments will be coming your way this week.  The Assessment team and I will send a detailed email tomorrow which will include a Sign Up Genius for meeting times.  Please consider this even more important than a Parent Teacher Conference.  For my own economy of time (as I am also teaching and writing end of year reports) I will hold meetings on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday the week of June 6th during the day.  After school slots will be limited.  I realize this may mean some schedule adjustments for some of you.  The information you will receive from our meeting is essential in understanding your child’s development and will be invaluable as they continue their education at Urban Prairie.  The reports themselves will be sent out in advance in order to give you time to digest the information and come with questions.  I very much look forward to having these meetings with you and sharing about your child.  They look to us to help them solve their riddles in life and this is one way that we can do so.  Thank you for your cooperation and openness throughout the process.
