Urban Prairie Waldorf School

Week 27

Classroom Highlights

As you can imagine, much of our week was focused on final preparations for our play.  We chose and ironed costumes, we rehearsed in Cricket Hall, and we shared our play with the younger children in their classroom.  We enjoyed the process together and grew in community in this preparation.

We also had time for another Baba Yaga story!  And, I introduced the /th/ and the /sh/ sounds.  We explored and played with those sounds throughout the week.  This week we will wrap up our final language arts block of the year.  When we return from Spring Break, we will have just one final math block before the first grade year comes to a close–that is hard to believe!

Request for Recyclables

Over the next couple days, please collect and send in empty paper towel rolls and/or toilet paper rolls.  Please send in what you have collected by Thursday this week.  Thank you so much!

Upcoming Events

Festival of Rebirth–Friday, April 12

We will be partnering with 5th grade for an excursion for the festival.  This year we are focusing on bringing the gifts we have cultivated throughout the winter to our community, just as mother nature is bringing her gifts to us that have been germinating below the surface for so many months.  In this spirit, the students will be walking to Barton Senior Residence to bring cheerful songs.  After this visit, we will be walking to Arrigo Park for a picnic and some play time.  We will leave at 8:50 and return by 11:30am.  Please sign the permission slip attached to the email or sign the online form in your BigSIS portal (https://urbanprairie.bigsis.com/portal/ by Wednesday, April 10.

Spring Break–April 13-22

We will return to school on Tuesday, April 23.  Enjoy!
