Dear Parents and Friends,

What a fun, eventful, productive, and exciting block we have just finished. Our exploration of the world’s biomes, the cultures that live in them, and the shelters they made, has been very rewarding in every aspect. The children finished up their illustrations and writing on Friday, and are ready to step into  a math block beginning on Monday.

We will be opening up the math block with a study of money. We finished our day on Friday with our market, in which the children were able to barter goods they brought from home. It was a fantastic way to segue into the use of currency, which we will look at in the coming week. This block, which is three weeks long, will also see the introduction of multi-digit vertical multiplication and long division. Please see the block description for for detailed information!

We will be starting our shelters project this week. It will roll out over the course of February. You can get a detailed description right here. Please let me know if you have any questions…

I hope that you all had a chance to look through your child’s work at the Parent Evening on Wednesday. As always, you are welcome to stop in any time!
