Sing and Study

In the weekly Sing and Study sessions with City Garden teacher, Hannah Avellone, we’ll sing simple songs from a variety of cultures, and then discuss Rudolf Steiner’s book How to Know Higher Worlds.
Not only did Steiner form Waldorf schools based on his pedagogical ideas, but he also developed an entire worldview  of the human being outside the Waldorf classroom. He termed his philosophy ‘anthroposophy,’ and within the study of this spiritual science are answers leading to self-knowledge and further to the uplifting of the world. In the foreword to the book, Arthur Zajonc describes the book as follows: “Steiner charts a meditative path that leads both to inner peace and to enhanced powers of soul, and finally to the lifting of that veil [which separates us from spiritual knowledge]. How to Know Higher Worlds is not only a personal guide to the spirit, but also a path through self-knowledge to compassionate action in the world.”
Join us to discuss, debate, and decide for yourself.  No reading is required for the first session, and in fact the reading homework and perfect attendance are never required!  Come when you can, and read what you can. You will always find the sessions fruitful regardless (though of course regular attendance and book completion are ideal).
