Preparing your child for the test that matters most.

We do things differently.

Mainstream education asks you to choose between art and academics, recess and reading, creativity and analytical thinking.

We think there’s a better way.

Now more than ever, your child needs a Waldorf education.

Waldorf education is transformative,
for your child and for the world.

Urban Prairie Waldorf School is a progressive, inclusive pre-k through 8th grade school located minutes from downtown Chicago, educating and preparing students to be responsible global citizens.

Our education lights the fires of enthusiasm, creates a sense of agency in the world, offers teaching that is an art form based on love for the children and fosters a community of mutual support and conscious parenting.

We innovate on the 100-year-old Waldorf teaching tradition to engage today’s child intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically. Our hands-on curriculum unfolds in time with the developmental stages of childhood, from the busy preschooler to the newly self-aware 3rd grader, from the “golden year” of 5th grade to the exciting complexities encountered in 8th.

We’re focused on the person your child will become: curious, compassionate, self-reliant. Our graduates are ready to excel academically and socially in the environment of their choosing.
