In the Classroom

The students have just wrapped up a three-week study of the Renaissance. We took in this fascinating time period through the lives and art of Brunelleschi, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Raphael. During this block there was a good deal of writing and artistic work that went into their morning lesson books. If you have not yet taken a look at your seventh grader’s lesson book, please be sure to do so! Overall, they are a very impressive portfolio of the content that was covered. Many thanks to Ms. Cather who was with us for this block and brought the biographies and works of Michelangelo and Raphael to life for us!

Congratulations to Rafa for winning our Duomo contest! Many of the votes had comments written on them about how amazing all the entires were and how people wanted to vote for all of them.

The students will be moving on to a physics block, mechanics, which will take us up to winter break with Ms. Pearl. This promises to be a fun and inventive block for the students!

Math

We have been hard at work on our Percentages unit since we returned from our winter break. There will be a unit test this upcoming Friday, February 1.

Language Arts

A good deal of our Language Arts time was taken up with writing groups focused on our Renaissance assignments. The high volume of writing this block really allowed the students to get some great momentum and practice. We will continue with reading and grammar for this upcoming block. Please keep an eye on your email for our next class reader!

Pizza Days and Boat Building

The students have been doing a great amount of work organizing our Pizza Day fundraiser for the boat project. It looks like we will be ready to kick things off on the first week of February!

Many students are also over 1/3 of the way towards their goal of $300 and some are even more than half way there! If your child is finding it challenging to raise money, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We can work out some strategies together to best support them in this.
