Summertime is for fun!

Urban Prairie Waldorf School offers a variety of camps that fit the bill.

We are hosting camps for children both inside and outside the Urban Prairie community at our school campus at 1310 S. Ashland. Class capacity will be capped at 8 students per group, so register now. Safe practices, such as frequent hand washing, sanitizing of surfaces, and safe distancing practices, will be followed – all within ISBE approved safety guidelines.

Lower School Camp – Weekly Schedule

June 15-19: Crafting Camp with Sarah Abram
Sarah Abram joined the Urban Prairie team in February, assisting in Handwork and bringing her son to our Prairie Roots room. She graduated from the Chicago Waldorf High School and has experience teaching after school crafting programs. Her gentle good nature and enthusiasm for crafts will bring light, laughter, and creativity to this week-long camp!

June 22-26: Puppet & Theater Camp with Gyasi Kress & Myra Kalaw
Our very own beloved aftercare teachers will bring their passion for puppet making, theater, magic, and crafts to life for the children in this week-long camp. The children will surely love to see this creative and inventive side of their aftercare teachers!

July 6-17: Circus Camp with CircEsteem
CircEsteem partnered with Urban Prairie last year to support our budding circus program. This organization finds talented and enthusiastic circus teachers to bring a circus program focused on positivity, supporting each other, and having fun with new skills! Sign up for the two week block or a single week.

July 20-31: Archery with Brent Harmon (MWF), Clowning with Carmen Kingsley (T,Th)
Archery will return to Urban Prairie under the experienced hand of Brent Harmon. Brent has run archery programs at Urban Prairie in years past with great success. Archery camp will run Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for two weeks. Tuesdays and Thursdays will most likely be a clowning workshop with our own Carmen Kingsley (circus class and club teacher this year). We recommend signing up for the full two weeks to get the most out of archery, but you may also sign up for a single week.

August 3-7: Capoeira with Beto Defreitas
Beto is also returning to the Urban Prairie community, having taught capoeira to our students in years past. He is excited to bring this beautiful Brazilian movement form that combines dance and martial art elements.
