Urban Prairie Waldorf School is a progressive, inclusive pre-k through 8th grade school located minutes from downtown Chicago, educating and preparing students to be responsible global citizens.

Our education lights the fires of enthusiasm, creates a sense of agency in the world, offers teaching that is an art form based on love for the children and fosters a community of mutual support and conscious parenting.

We innovate on the 100-year-old Waldorf teaching tradition to engage today’s child intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically. Our hands-on curriculum unfolds in time with the developmental stages of childhood, from the busy preschooler to the newly self-aware 3rd grader, from the “golden year” of 5th grade to the exciting complexities encountered in 8th.

We’re focused on the person your child will become: curious, compassionate, self-reliant. Our graduates are ready to excel academically and socially in the environment of their choosing.
