Main Lesson

In main lesson we will hear mainly from student presenters this week as well as make ready for our block test.  Time permitting we will look more closely at European Geography-time not permitting we will circle back to this topic later.

Grammar/Skills focus wise we have (in addition to items listed in last update):

  • continue to check in with each other about our research processes-what’s going well, what’s helpful, and what’s not!
  • continue to update study guides and talk about grammar points
  • we will add trivia questions to our study guides daily (each student creates a trivia question based in their personal research for the block test)

Renaissance Research Projects

Renaissance research projects are in full swing and thus far the students have demonstrated an increased level of comfort, vocabulary, and ease in public speaking.  It is, once again, so wonderful to see their progressions and development over time!  Thank you for your help editing, researching, as practice audiences for your children, and getting them to the library Dear Parents!

Grade 6 Math

In grade 6 math we have seen and will continue to see some visiting teachers.  As part of the interview process Urban Prairie invites applicants to teach across a number of different grades.  Grade 6 has warmly welcomed each guest and afforded them a high level of respect and interest.

Block Reports Coming Home and Renaissance MLBs Due Friday

  • Watch for block reports for Chemistry and Geometry…these are to be thoughtfully reviewed and signed by parent and student (it is always my wish and effort to turn around reports within one or two weeks of a block ending but this is not always possible.  Please be sure to read these important communications regarding your child’s progress)
  • Renaissance main lesson books are due Friday-I have typically given an extra weekend to complete them but am requiring them on the last day of the block this time.

The faculty has committed to taking up social inclusion work with widely acclaimed, accessible, and thoroughly experienced Kim John Payne.  This work will involve students, faculty, parents, and our Urban Prairie community as we create our school’s mission and program surrounding this topic.

Several parent participation and enrichment opportunities are available, for which you can purchase your tickets here.

Cheers until next time,
