School Lunch

The Urban Prairie Community Kitchen group has worked to refurbish and equip our school kitchen in order to not only serve our students but also our community.  The Community Kitchen endeavors to:

• Serve nutrient dense meals based on traditional principles
• Be seasonal, farm to table, and local
• Start from fresh ingredients prepared onsite
• Save on shipping distances, food processing costs, and packaging waste • Support regenerative farmers and local economies
• Integrate school and nearby urban production gardens
• Teach cooking alongside the relationships between food, health, culture, and environment
• Support wellness and enhance connection within our community

Food is science, health, and community all bound together in one delicious package, and our Community Kitchen is the place where all these things come to life!
